County Coroner

Katie Schuck

The County Coroner is an official elected by popular vote. The coroner serves a four-year term. The chief responsibility is to determine the manner of death in cases involving violence or casualty or when someone is found dead in unexplained circumstances. The coroner must notify the police agency and obtain assistance in making his investigation.

The Coroner may also act as a peace officer under certain circumstances.
